It all started when…
Mike saw a gap in the market for a well organised equipment supplier for super yachts, boat owners & marine tradies.
Son to a well respected stainless polishing expert, Devan Vitali (senior). Mike, joined Alloy Yachts International International & Devan their father got his sons a job as super yacht fairer’s & painters with Robert Dryfhout, a true original legend of the New Zealand marine industry.
Mike then travelled through Europe after crafting his painting skills at Alloy Yachts learning various spray painting techniques & refit procedures. Arriving back in Auckland he managed a team of 5-40 marine painters over a twenty year period working on super yachts, race yachts & local vessels including multiple Volvo ocean race events in Auckland and multiple America’s cup regatta.
Taking a short two year break from the marine industry to operate a scaffolding & access company allowed the contacts & safety knowledge to combine with marine knowledge about refits & thus Marine Hire was born. Let the fun begin!
